I'm a mother of two under the age of three and the founder of a lifestyle and design blog, http://ww.ModernParentsMessyKids.com. My son is a construction vehicle fiend. If it digs, drags, pushes or destroys, then it's for him. And from what I hear, he's not alone. These mighty machines seem to be adored by little (and big) guys almost universally. In an effort to give the kids what they want, but still maintain a sense of style, I've rounded up 20 finds to help add some industrial chic to your child's space.
Monograms are a great way to personalize a kid's space. This 3D construction version is made of a gravel-textured surface with toy diggers, dumper trucks and even workmen. My favorite parts are the muddy tracks leading off the print and onto the mat board — almost like the machines have been busy working while your child slumbered.
This is such a cool take on the famous 1932 photograph taken by Charles Ebbets, and you can't go wrong with LEGO decor. Do kids ever really outgrow them?
The large scale and modern lines of this wall decal make for a versatile focal point the kids won't quickly outgrow. Plus it's available in several colors and can be personalized with a child's name or personal message.
This is another decal from DecoMOD Walls, equally as lovely as the Bulldozer Tractor. Overlapping the machines and crane gives the scene a nice level of dimension.
Who says trucks are just for boys? With the photographed digger juxtaposed against a bright pop of pink, this print has something for all your littles — regardless of gender. It's a perfect pick for the playroom.
This print of a partially completed construction project is a wonderfully vivid piece. I love the idea of my little boy seeing it in his room every day and being inspired to build masterpieces of his own.
The key to creating a theme room that a child won't quickly outgrow is to not be too overt. This industrial-style lighting would look amazing hanging over a work table in a playroom — especially when coupled with some of the prints included here.
Using tool boxes as storage is a stylish and functional way to incorporate some construction into the decor. Yellow versions are my favorite, but cherry red, sleek silver or jet black are also fun options.
These extra large tool-themed alphabet cards would look great mounted as a large grid on the wall. For a smaller installation, you could also use them to spell out your child's name or a fun message like "kids at work."
Don't want to go with theme bedding for fear of your child outgrowing it? These construction vehicle pillows would go very well with a solid duvet or comforter. My son would be in heaven falling asleep each night on a cement mixer or an excavator.
If you really want to go all in with the children's industrial vibe, look no further than this amazing art table. I love how it manages to make stark, industrial style seem somehow playful.
