Peggy Berk - Area Aesthetics Interior Design Color is just reflected light - so it's imperative to test colors in the actual interior in which they will be used. Test your color both in the room's direct light and in areas that are in shadow. Watch it for at least 24 hours (and longer if the room has a lot of natural light) to see how the color changes as lighting conditions change in the room before you commit.
Replace heavy winter drapes with sheer or thin curtains to let more light in. Use the same ideas when approaching summer bed linens (especially for guests), throws, cushions and floor pillows. When it's 100 degrees outside, lounging on a fleece cushion probably won't sound like a good idea.

A can of paint. You’ve heard this time and time again, but a coat of paint can make all the difference. Slap a bold red onto an antique desk to give it a contemporary spin or update your wall color for a dramatic new look. If the task seems too daunting, start small by painting inexpensive accessories, like vases.
Blue. Bright and striking in some spaces, subdued and soothing in others, blue can completely transform a space. More: Houzz guides to decorating with blue
Some designers suggest adding a touch of red to any scheme. LOVE the colours. The curtains just top it off and everything fits in perfectly. The red, blue and white give a seaside feel and this would be the perfect room for any room in the house.

The mid-century modern shape of the dresser in the bold red against the teal is lovely. I love re-using old furniture and the use of painted finishes can breathe new life into wood slightly past its prime.
