The piece is very special to me. It is hanging in my home at the moment, and was created to celebrate and explore the childhood that my sister & I shared together. She had a way of making me laugh that no one else can quite duplicate. She's no longer with us, and I believe the time has come for me to part with this painting as part of my personal growth and acceptance process. It will be carefully packed and shipped within the continental United States.

About the artist:

Artist, writer, chemist, and madly in love with my muse. I work for the man, but my true passions lie in the creative realm. In my spare time, I lead Ink & Alchemy, a creative community focused on inspiring, enabling, and transforming creative people via networking and social media.
My work strives to explore the theme of transformation. I wholeheartedly believe that each & every person possesses the power to live an extraordinary life. Over the past ten years, my life has been completely transformed. I continue to learn & grow on a daily basis and my art helps me to define and express this process.
The pieces that I make are robust and vibrant. Rather than work on canvas, I prefer the rigidity of wood. My dashing husband makes beautiful cradled wood substrates upon request and ensures that each piece is ready to hang upon delivery to your home. Sometimes, the creative process involves some destruction along the way and I like to be free to scrape, heat, burn, and scratch without worrying about warping or ruining a canvas. My art tends to consist of many layers and it is this process that feeds my soul. As each layer is applied and worked into the design, I intentionally focus on my theme of transformation & metamorphosis. With each finished piece, I allow myself to grow, shed bits of the past, and become a slightly different person. I wholeheartedly embrace that. Change is good!
I primarily work in acrylic, encaustic, paper, India ink. The encaustic paints I use are made by hand in my studio using beeswax, damar resin, and pigment. Each piece is glazed and then coated with a clear UV-resistant spray. This is art that is meant to be lived with & enjoyed on a daily basis. We love to know that our pieces have gone to good homes and are hung in a places where they can be seen and loved.
