Accent wall. This ribbon of black makes the separation of the living and dining area much more pronounced than a light-colored wall would. A wall that doesn't span across much of the floor is an ideal place to try this out.
Add a creative touch with chalkboard paint. With a swipe of chalkboard paint (in classic black or any color you fancy), you can draw attention to your bar tray. For a party, you could even write the evening's signature drink recipe directly on the wall.
Problem: You don't want everyone crowding into the kitchen for drinks.Solution: A makeshift bar. Here's one area I don't have a lot of trouble being prepared for: the bar. Find a surface — you can repurpose a bathroom cart, an old hutch or a dresser. (Moving a piece of furniture comes with the bonus of making your home feel refreshed and ready for entertaining.) Add a fun chalkboard with drink recipes, like the one shown, to complete your custom speakeasy.

white shelves in dining area to the left; comfy chair; neutral wall color allows everything else to "do the talking" while still creating a soft, warm space
I see art & function in each piece. This makes it easier to take personal/mixed items to serve 2 functions.
Small spaces can make huge statements about you.
Now where can I put my doll house?
