Information about the glass: All glass used in the Aura collection is made and finished one by one, completely by hand, using conventional methods from the Murano area. Each twist of glass has unique qualities compared to the others. Any irregularities are not to be considered defects therefore, but qualities that testify to the artisan nature of the work in all its stages. The Aura collection glass is mixed in its molten state by three successive immersions: first the core is made from Muranos' famous clear, crystal glass, well known for its clarity and freedom from impurities; then the piece is immersed in a pot of molten coloured glass; finally the piece is immersed once more in the clear crystal glass. The glass bulb that is obtained from this method, after being briefly heated, is worked by hand and re-heated. The head glassmaker then takes the semi-molten glass rod and twists it out, with a technique that is as hard to master as it is old. This is the most delicate and refined part of the whole process. Still red hot, the now beautifully twisted and shaped glass rods are left to cool very slowly. After careful selection these rods are then cut, holed and finished by passing a grindstone over the glass four times to ensure a perfect, smooth surface.
