I called the builder of this home and was told that they will not share any information regarding their building materials, stating that they build so many homes that it is difficult to keep up with the exact materials used on a particular home. Matthew W Johnson, General Contractor Typically the batts are at 16" on center. That way the cover the verticle joints between the plywood sheets and can also be nailed to the studs behind the plywood. Assuming that they match a pleasant layout. But, typically, they are 16" on center.

laloofah I would guess that yes, it's 12". We just had the front porch gable on our new Craftsman house sided in board and batten, it looks exactly like this, and the batts are,12" apart. Our builder said since the board material (that he works with, anyway) comes in 12" widths, there's a seam every 12" that the batts naturally cover. We're very pleased with the look.

Anne DeCocco I can't help with the trim color, other than to say it's a very creamy white. As for a darker color making a house look smaller, I think it does. Not necessarily in a bad way, as you can see by looking at this home. It's gorgeous. If there are lots of trees around a home, I tend to lighten up the exterior color. Same goes for most ranch style homes. Dark colors make them receed, although the very light trim brightens things up nicely.
