Luxury cottage bath incorporates traditional Carrara marble and contemporary 4x12 white glass tile. Chrome Grohe fixtures compliment the design. The custom shower enclosure includes a fixed screen recessed into the wall and curb, thus no visible hardware and a self-centering swing door. Custom cabinetry reflects the calm spirit of this transitional bath.

floor tile - Is the glass pebble floor tile at all slippery? Thank you. »
BY DESIGN Builders Aloha and thank you for your question!
We used what ModWalls recommends, "Recommended Adhesive: Modified latex thin-set."
Check out their website: http://www.modwalls.com/modrocksrecycledglasspebbles.aspx All the best!
BY DESIGN Builders Aloha and thank you for asking. The entire shower footprint is 72" x 40". The seat is 17" deep, which is included in the footprint thus making the shower floor 55" x 38" (inside measurement).
loriandrea Thank you so much for your prompt response. I am redoing my daughters' bathroom and have some leftover Carrera Marble (from a kitchen remodel) and plan to use that for their counter top. We are replacing the tub for a shower and adding some cubbies at the end (teenage girls need more space). I love how you combined the Carrera in the shower as well. I was thinking of doing a slightly gray (versus white) grout. Thoughts?
Also - what did you use for the floor - so it wouldn't be slippery?
I will look at the ModWalls website...did you find their pricing to be the best as well?
BY DESIGN Builders Aloha Lori,
Great details in your information! And thank you for the compliment regarding our pairing the Carrera Marble with white glass tile :-)
Yes, we did try other colors of grout in the pale grays. It COMPLETELY changed the look of the white glass and not for the better.
The StarGlass grout is available in "diamond" which is nearly clear. What it does is allow light to reflect off the glass tile in a beautiful transluscent way. It is not transparent, but it gives that feeling.
Ah, the floors....once again...ModWalls. We installed a border of Carrera Marble with ModWalls ModRocks Recycled Glass Pebble tiles (http://www.modwalls.com/modrocksrecycledglasspebbles.aspx ). The ModRocks Recycled Glass Pebbles are tumbled smooth and similar to river rock, but much smaller format. The light reflection colors of the Recycled Glass Pebbles is stunning on the floor. We used a white grout on it too, which was perfect. If we could have afforded the additional week for curing time we would have used the StarGlass in diamond but white grout worked well as a second choice.
Regarding the price point for ModWalls, we have found them to right in the middle of other suppliers, but their quality is superior and their service is excellent which is why we continually source from them. They take extra care in their shipping practices and we have never received a broken tile. Imagine that, 100% perfect arrival in Maui with glass tiles. It is unheard of, except with ModWalls :-)
Bathroom Resolution No. 5: I will take matters into my own hands next yearA handshower is a real boon to any shower, but especiallly for accident-prone sports enthusiasts and seniors. It is best positioned within reach of your shower bench for total accessibility.
Any bench can be made safer. Grab bars, free space and bench positions are clearly laid out in ADA planning guides. These spaces need planning from the beginning so that interior walls do not get in the way of transferring from a wheelchair to the bench.Any shower built larger than 36 by 36 inches should have multiple grab bars.

Note grab bars which we want to have installed in the the master bath room renovation. Note sure I like having the hand held shower head back by the bench but that may be part do the ADA design of this shower.
