did you "treat" the paneling,
or was it already that
nice, warm-ish color?
thanks!
(i have orange-ish knotty pine, but would love a colour like this to be achievable.... »
Michelle Ridge I have 3/4" tongue and groove wormy chesnut in my house. Lots of it...in the dining room, living room, kitchen, and the kitchen cabinets. I hate the color. Its a orange color stain that is just not for me. Would love to make it a more natural color. Any ideas besides taking it down and stripping?
warbirl tsp is pretty amazing at removing filthy layers of preservative and I washed the wails with it quite liberally using a sponge mop after each wash the color brightened bringing out the grain - beware it's pretty harse stuff.
I'd love to grab a throw pillow and sprawl on this floor. The paneling and the shag are a throwback, but the clean lines and accessories make it modern.
This has the obvious makings of a cozy den: taxidermy wall hooks, wood paneling and a 1950s era floor lamp. But what really struck me about this photo was how well the shag goes with the already existing carpet. Don’t be afraid to add a warm shag rug no matter the flooring.
Are you ready for this? Not only do we have shag carpeting, but we’ve got wood paneling. If this isn’t a hint that the ‘70s are back in swing, then I don’t know what is. However, this certainly isn’t the set of Happy Days: by pairing the wood paneling with a neutral shag rug, midcentury lamp and clean-lined table, the look feels more calm and soothing instead of dark and depressing.
The immediate mental image you get when you read "wood paneling" closely resembles the vertical, dark wood application you see here. A thick shag rug, a curated collection of trophy plaques on the wall and contemporary furnishings and home accessories make the paneling feel intentional and desired.
Wood PanelingNot too long ago wood paneling was an automatic rip-down. It was dark and dated and screamed "1970s rec room." Not so fast. Wood-paneled accent walls are back. But this time they are lighter, often horizontal and real.
