The Beginning: Soaring cathedral ceilings in a room flooded with light from arched windows and a view to the woods beyond.

The Concept: Refresh the dark, dated, brick fireplace; add much-needed architectural details for visual impact; create a cozy, welcoming style within this expanse of space.

Meredith Ericksen It's about 10". There are specific building codes to follow when determining the distance of non-flammable material you need around a firebox before you add a flammable product such as a wood surround. I discussed this with the GC on the project to determine the correct distance.

Meredith Ericksen Not sure how to answer this question. I did the design and the cabinet maker/carpenter the client hired did the fabrication/installation.

Meredith Ericksen This is a Kravet fabric. We designed this space about 4 years ago...not sure if the fabric is still available. I would need to look-up the info in the project file for additional info.

Meredith Ericksen Hi. The photo above the mantel was taken by a local DC photographer...he is not selling his work anymore. We were lucky to get it!m We had it tinted in a sepia tone to work with the warm tones in the room.

Meredith Ericksen This lamp is from The Natural Light. You can look at websites such as Lamps Plus and search under Manufacturers. I ordered it for my client.
