Michelle The shelf is made out of a plain 2"x 8" board. The brackets come from a local wood mouldings manufacturer, in British Columbia, but I have seen very similar kinds at Home Depot, at very reasonable prices.. If you need fancy ones, the "House of Antique Hardware" carries a great selection and they are available on line... search for "Decorative wood brackets". Good luck in your search!
