klp1996 Rebekah - I love all of your work! You have such great insighs! We are building a home with Yorktowne Cabinets in antique white (definitely a cream color that is darker than a "Dove White"). We are strongly considering Kashmir White or Silver Kashmir (the same thing where we are looking) and it's a mix of grays, taupes with some cream and dark brown - very similiar to granite pictured above. In your expert opinion, do you think mixing grays and taupes with a warmer cream color will make the cream cabinets look yellow? Thanks in advance!!!
spectoka I was at the Ann Sacks store and they couldn't tell me what this was. Ghost gloss in person looks very taupe, nowhere near any shade of white like you might expect from the name and/or this photo. If you want a light grey you might try Dove.
Hi Rebekah,
I love this kitchen. Are the cabinets here stark white or do they have a hint of cream? What is the best granite color, in your opinion, for light cream cabinets (think BM white dove color). I would love to copy (as much as possible) this kitchen. Thanks! »
I am currently finalizing my kitchen order! Building for 8 months almost to the end. But, I saw these beautiful subway tiles. Would this color tile go with a black antiqued honed granite countertop (black pearl, cambrian)? Or do you know of another tile that would go better black counter white cabinetry (thinking white dove from Benjamin Moore). Your advice would be greatly appreciated!!! »
Vanessa Brunner I think you could honestly do either — it just depends on what kind of look you're going for. How dark exactly is the granite you're using? Do you happen to have a photo of it? That makes a big difference.
In the meantime, here are a couple shots that might give you a good idea of what black or white tile would look like:
mrsaul Well, yeah, they'll probably look really good...but you should consider that a black countertop will pretty much dictate the feel of the room. The kitchen in this picture would look and feel totally different with dark counters. I would suggest looking for inspiration in pictures with black countertops to get a better idea of what your finished kitchen will look like. Something with light subway tiles will definitely come up.
I have fallen in love with this kitchen! Unfortunately the only options for granite for me are Imperial White and White Kashmir - I cannot find white palmas anywhere locally (London). Can anyone (I'm praying Rebekah responds) recommend what Ann Sacks tile backsplash would go with either of those 2 granite choices to try to recreate this amazing look?
thanks »
Anne DeCocco I'm not Rebekah, but maybe she'll see my response and chime in. Imperial and Kashmir will both give you a very similar look as what you see in this kitchen. It's got a polished finish looks great. You can do this too!
bepsf MIght want to narrow it down a bit - Since your counters will be white and I'm guessing your cabinets will be white as well, you could go with a colorful backsplash to make it interesting.
Personally, I'd take your cabinetry, flooring and countertop samples to your tile supplier and have a look at what is available, within your budget and strikes your fancy - The possibilities are endless!
Kerstin Dieterich Designs Most custom cabinet lines will allow you to add the divider like you see here on the upper cabinets. Otherwise it is a modified inset shaker style. Very pretty!
What kind of paint was used on the walls? Thanks! - We plan to recreate this whole look on our kitchen by thanksgiving if all goes well. So pretty. Thanks for the inspiration! »
This mostly-white kitchen has a few vintage touches, like the schoolhouse pendant lights, drawer pulls and Tolix stools, which keeps it from being cold and sterile.
As seen in this kitchen, the replica lighting looks clean and timeless. An old home in a modern age does not mean we have to do without the conveniences or appeal of newer kitchens. We just have to think more creatively!
