Taelor Brown Birdrockmom- I LOVE your staircase! We are building a home and our staircase steps are curved, can you do this on a steps that are curved?
bepsf The stairs are designed and assembled with the dimensions of the tile in mind...
...then the tiles are installed upon the risers - same as tile anywhere else in the house - after the structure is in place.
Interior Changes home design Beautiful! It is generally the noise factor that gets clients adding a stair runner before the issue of slipping gets thought about. If you don't have to add a runner, I certainly would not. But if you do...I would add a simple solid wool that leaves at least 6" of tile and wood nosing exposed on each side, and have it installed with wrought iron stair rods.
Using tile on the risers of a staircase is always a great way to inject pattern into a room. The cement tile selected here transforms what's already a beautiful staircase into an exotic statement.
4. Hand painted tiles on stair risers. These stair risers are covered with colorful Catalina style tiles, which combine glossy and matte finishes. This adds wonderful depth to the patterns.
Tip: When selecting patterned tiles for your stair risers, it is okay (and encouraged) to combine different patterns. Just make sure the colors work well together.
