These barstools are by Ficks Reed. While I have heard rumors circulating, that they have since gone out of business, their website is still maintained and functioning, so I would take one stab at contacting them just in case.

Wow! Carerra marble has been a hot topic lately. I love it and I would choose it for my kitchen but maintenance wise it depends on how you live. It would look great contrasting against a dark cabinet color. I would use the carerra on all the counter tops to keep the look consistent since it's such a classic stone. If you decide to use it only on your island and a different counter top on all of the other counter tops, I would look at a simple white quartz surface. Considering carerra has a lot of movement in the veining you wouldn't want to mix it with anything that has movement so the two surfaces fight with each other. I'm not sure what cabinet door style you are going with so the quartz might be too contemporary. For more on the carerra debate check out this great HOUZZ article....

As for the back splash, a nice simple white subway tile would work. For a more contemporary look I have seen great carerra marble mosaics in different shapes and size that would also work.

Thank you Carolina..I appreciate your answer. We are doing espresso shaker cabs. Our 1st thought was to do Zeus silestone with the marble island and white subs...but got gun shy on using 3 different surfaces...Then I came across (quartz) Compaq (carrera marble) and Cambria (Torguay)...which might be very $$....So if the prices are way too much, do you think the brown shaker cabs (contemporary pulls) would look good with the white silestone and white subs....and marble on island?? What kind of white subs do you like....regular 3x6 or beveled...polished or matte?? Thanks for your input!

I think dark cabinets would look great with the white quartz top. As for the back splash you can do a grey grout with a plain white glossy subway tile to break up all the white or you can do a cool long glass tile mosaic or a small multi colored mosaic. Not sure what color you are planning to paint the walls??

I love the look of Carrera as well, but I love to cook and have two little ones so a porous surface was not an option. I went with Ciot Caesarstone in a light finish and really love it. There are several solid surface options that mimic the look of marble and are more kitchen friendly. Corian and Mysteria are good ones to check out...but the ones that look like marble are pricier.

Hi, read in the previous emails that this is granite, not marble.

This is one bright white paint color. Maybe it's the lighting when the photo was taken. I think this is absolutely pure white, nothing added to the mix.

It is a wonderful space. It help with the color, take a look at Sherwin Williams' Lattice, SW7654.

That appears to be a white tile, set in an offset, or subway pattern.

paul - could you please tell us a name brand of white tile that has some character. I am finding the dal tile kohler being a bit plain...for my kitchen with black antiqued honed granite. Do you have a white subway tile that has some pizzaz, texture. Would you suggest a 3 x 6 or is it best to use smaller tiles in your opinion. Your advice is greatly appreciated!

That appears to be a white granite but I can't see it clearly enough to tell which one.

I saw this kitchen in person and I believe the counter is a white granite that has some gray and sand colored veining.

It might be Bianca Romano granite. It's a white granite that resembles marble, but without the issues of staining etc.
