debora carl landscape design The 40" dia copper fire bowl was purchased 8 years ago from Cosco. It came with a wrought iron stand and was designed to be a wood burning fire bowl. We mounted the bowl on a cube of poured in place colored concrete and brought natural gas into it. The double gas fire ring, mounted inside the bowl, is covered with small black lava rock.

debora carl landscape design The bamboo is Chusquea coronalis or Crown Bamboo. It is non invasive and a very beautiful plant. The grass is Acorus gramineus 'Ogon'- Sweet Flag Grass. The ground cover is Baby's Tears- Soleirolia soleirolii.

scotchoiloilo thank you! Really appreciate this. A few more questions. Are baby tears easier to grow then thyme? Do they creep fast and like the sun. I have a relatively large area to cover. Also the fern is called foxtail but then I have a different variety with me. Would you know the scientific name?
debora carl landscape design Asparagus densiflorus ‘Myers’ is the botanical name for Foxtail Fern. Baby's Tears does better in part shade to full shade. The various ground cover thymes are better suited for full sun areas.

uberv There are products such as horticultural vinegar that will kill weeds without introducing nasty chemicals.
Michellina Zdraveski-van Loder Thanks Ruari and uberv, I'll have to google the horticultural vinegar as it's not something I've heard of but sounds very interesting. I use vinegar for everything around the house, so may as well try it in the garden. Our whole yard is going to be garden beds for vegetables, so we want the ground around them to be paths and gravel. I'd still be able to do the crazy paving with the gravel in between?

debora carl landscape design Yes it's smooth stucco, also called smooth Santa Barbara finish. We will look for the color specs, it's also a good idea to match colors of a wall you like with color fan decks.
