Diane and the entire team at Fine Design Interiors had a wonderful experience working on your project. We are so pleased that our passion and creativity enabled us to bring your vision to life. Mahalo for giving us the opportunity to work with you on your beautiful home!
Unfortunately, sometimes there are many factors that are simply beyond our control. We did our best to insulate you from the difficulties we were having meeting the needs of your project and apologize if this came off as uncommunicative. As you are aware from conversations with both Fine Design’s Designer and the electrical contractor, the age of your home and its existing wiring truly inhibited the ability for your lighting project to move forward.
If you recall, you had selected a few beautiful lighting fixtures from lighting catalogs that you had, and after discussing with the electrical contractor we learned that your home’s current wiring would not accommodate these fixtures. As a result, the first proposal did not contain your full project scope but rather only the fixtures that were in stock on the Big Island and could be wired in your home. Although we suggested you move forward with these fixtures, you declined and decided to wait until the entire scope could be proposed. By the time additional fixtures suggested were approved by the electrical contractor to work in your home, and by you for pricing and a proposal, the original fixtures were no longer in stock on the island and are now considered custom-order from the vendors. In addition, the original vendor quotes had expired, and as you may recall us communicating to you, these factors caused the increase in cost on the proposal.
Sadly, the Big Island has nowhere near enough contractors available for the volume of work. Although we diligently tried, it was simply impossible for us to find one that was willing to take on a small size project of a single skylight replacement.
All of our designers are passionate about creating beautiful and comfortable environments that meet the needs and expectations of our clients. We sincerely apologize that we were simply unable to do this for you.
