bepsf These are stainless - They just appear darker due to the shadowing of the light behind them...
...look at those at the lower portion of the photo to see their true color.
Hammer Architects That is correct, they are stainless.

poorgirl we have a cottage on the water, and didn't want people to take their shoes off when coming in doors, we put in a honed/filled ivory 16 x 16 travertine tile. Nothing shows on it and no need to worry about scratching. I would go with some form of stone so there is minimal maintance

    motherofdog Hi motherbear,
A number of years ago we stayed in a bed and breakfast on the Maine coast. The shower ceiling and walls were wood. I believe pine. I asked them about the wood holding up to water and they said they just used a marine finish. You should be able to find them at Johnstown Distributing online.
Hammer Architects We use wood ceilings in our bathrooms quite often; we have never had a problem.

bepsf You can have a local carpenter fabricate a similar piece for you - or you could use standard kitchen wall cabinets to achieve a similar effect by mounting them low and having a shallow countertop fitted to them.
Hammer Architects Yes, it is a design by Hammer Architects, built by a local cabinet maker.

EnvironmentalLights.com EnvironmentalLights.com offers LED under cabinet lighting - which would go great with brand new cabinets and light up the space nicely. Dimmable and energy-efficient (save up to 90% on energy costs vs incandescent lights).

Jay Flom Thanks for the response. I meant the infill, not the frame. It is a cable railing, isn't it? At this distance, I suppose it could be thin rods. It's a really nice look.
