I became aware of Mercedes because of her work for a family member. The rooms she designed were tasteful and elegant yet also practical and accessible. I was particularly impressed with how she used architectural elements and innovative materials to define and elevate spaces. When I moved to Naples and purchased a home requiring extensive updating, I felt confident turning to her for help. She did not disappoint. A whole house renovation can be daunting, but Mercedes made it easy. She produced detailed drawings reflecting her suggested designs for the kitchen and bathrooms and then helped me to select materials that brought her designs to life and reflected my tastes while maximizing my budget. It was only after I moved in that truly appreciated her kitchen design, which makes entertaining as well as mundane tasks like clearing the table and emptying the dishwasher a snap. Mercedes also produced a full lighting plan that I was able to hand to the general contractor, along with thoughtful recommendations for all decorative fixtures. As with her recommendations for furniture and other items, I was able to efficiently make choices that I knew would be the correct scale for the space and consistent with the overall design vision. Reflecting the depth of her skills, Mercedes envisioned unique design features that really elevated the results. One was to eliminate an asymmetrical peak in the ceiling of the open plan, main living area and drop the ceiling by creating a series of large, coffered sections that delineate three spaces with different uses. A unique architectural panel serves to divide the entry from the living area to create a foyer without blocking the much-needed light provided by the glass entry door. Overall, Mercedes was flexible, easy to work with and respectful of my budget, all qualities desirable in an interior designer. I would highly recommend her.

Mercedes is fantastic!! I renovated my entire house, including tearing down walls and building new sections. It was difficult to see how it would all come together for me. Mercedes design vision was amazing. She has a real talent for spatial orientation and is a master of colors. Working with Mercedes is so easy. She brings unique ideas and is very current. She listens to your tastes are really designs specifically for you. She’s very flexible in how involved you like to be in the process. She can just make it happen or involve you as much as you would like. She is very responsive and timely. Mercedes was with me every step of the way from flooring, complete kitchen and bath remodels, wall coverings and paint, lighting fixtures and all furniture design and selections. She had really good contacts to complete everything. I was always amazed how easily she can see it come together and picking each detail to create beautiful spaces I cannot recommend Mercedes high enough. She is so pleasant always! We are nearing completion of a total renovation of our high-rise condo. Mercedes has been a pleasure to work with, both for us and for our builder. She quickly produced hand-drawn perspective sketches to help us visualize possibilities we had never thought of. She has a great eye for color and texture, and has really captured the feeling we wanted from our condo. Even though most of the work was done in a period of supply-chain disruption, her deep contacts and relationships in the industry, plus her creativity and ingenuity, helped keep the project on schedule.

We decided to renovate instead of relocate and wanted an entirely new look to our home. Mercedes met with me to establish a vision and plan and then created a transformation of our home with color! She has an eye for color and a design IQ that is unsurpassed! She transformed our dark and oak interior to a light and bright contemporary home! I truly felt that I had a new home! She also provided hints to maintain several of our antiques and assisted us in creating a transitional feel to our home. In addition, she convinced us to transition from an organized clutter to a minimalist splendor! In addition she made stellar recommendations for subcontractors such as carpenters, construction specialists, painters, and other vendors who were as diligent and dependable, often a challenge in southwest Florida. I have worked with 2 interior designers for past renovations. I must admit that neither experience was a positive experience for me. Mercedes is a wonderful listener and she assisted us in realizing our "new home." She helped us to create a new feel for our home with many budget friendly ideas. It is without reservation that I recommend Mercedes to other prospective clients. My overall experience was quite positive and I have made a new friend!

I have worked with Mercedes on two projects so far. Our first was recovering my outdoor furniture. She coordinated three distinct areas (26 furniture pieces) and brought in fresh bright colors that added new life to the areas. Our second project was the complete remake of a laundry room, guest bathroom and guest bedroom. I was so pleased with the fabrics and wallpapers that became our cornerstone for the rooms. The laundry was small but she redesigned the layout and it feels much larger now. The team she has put together are very professional and go the extra mile to get things done in record time. My three room project was done in 30 days! I highly recommend Mercedes for any project you may have.

Mercedes is an extremely talented designer with exquisite taste. I've worked with others designers and none of them listened to what I wanted. Immediately when I started working with Mercedes she not only listened to me but made the entire experience exciting and fun. She's designed a bathroom and a family room for us which came out stunning and takes my breath away every time I walk into them. Have had the pleasure of working with Mercedes Courland over the past ten years on residential projects and designer showcases. She is a brilliant designer, she is consistently blows me away with her ideas and color treatments. For example, she recently did the Master bath in The Southampton Designer Showcase. With a predominantly grey scheme, she had me paint a fuchsia powder room with harlequin. The fuschia was a pop of color, and it came out amazing. I know from working with her clients, that they have all been thrilled to have Merceds design their home.
