Thank you for this wonderful article! We are renovating a 1911 cottage and the architect has suggested floating the kitchen sink over a low existing window. I was feeling a little hesitant to do this but having seen your article I feel confident that it's the right thing to do. Also great to get tips on preserving the original fabric of an old house.

How easy is it to operate a double hung window with a sink floated in front of a low window? The advantage would be the ability to clean under the sink. When we lived in a turn of the century bungalow with the original cabinets, the base of the sink cabinet was the floor. There were door but no cabinet floor. It made it easy to clean under the sink.
