Sia@South47th We are doing a whole 1956 Cottage Reno by ourselves, with a bit of help from our friends and on a VERY shoestring budget. However, those shoestrings were loosened for my double copper hammered farmhouse sink, copper faucet, and copper cabinet hardware. I can't wait to see everything installed. And NO I am NOT concerned in the LEAST about any "Health Risks".

studio10001 You are not wrong; comfy and cozy is always better! If you hope to entertain in this space, I will point you toward a circular tufted banquette as a focal point, with additional chairs and side tables toward the edges, and nested planting tables, large vertical plantings spread throughout. If you do not plan to entertain, these areas are wonderful spots to read and create, as Texas hit on above, as well as a place to enjoy a cuppa and ruminate...and grow hothouse plants, of course. Let proposed activities guide your furniture choices and sub divisions. Beautiful space.

RDM Architecture The kitchen was designed specifically so that clients, who enjoy cooking together, could both access the cook top from either side or both sides at once. The triangle is actually incredibly efficient if you take a look at the previous picture you can see that the fridge is directly opposite the microwave and the double ovens are behind the photographer. It made sense to have a prep. sink at the island in addition to the main sink so that multiple people could prepare meals simultaneously. The microwave is under the counter for aesthetic reasons and because they do not use it very often. While the layout might not work for everybody, the homeowners have been very happy with the functionality of the kitchen. One of the many reasons to hire an architect. Your kitchen should fit your lifestyle.

Texas Lightsmith looks like a lot of 2x4's, rope, wall hooks, futons and casters.. I wonder if the top bunk hinges... I can see kids pushing each other across the room on that bottom bunk! So fun!

Texas Lightsmith be sure to use industrial anchors set into the wall studs! Perhaps consider the weight of the sleeper (or hopper) and ask about load restrictions on the parts you buy.

Jeffrey Modell This is my favorite eating island. Could you share its dimensions and the rough footage of the home it complements? Was the use of a single level your decision (versus a raised eating edge) or a request by the client and what was the reasoning? Thanks!

nFORMAL design Not to start a holy war or anything, but if you aren't Buddhist, etc., or religious at all, you aren't really desecrating anything. You are just using cool looking soap. Like Elvis soap or Obama soap, etc.
