Hello. We had a similar problem once. What we did it that situation was to lower the headboard height to stop just under the window frame. Images attached below. In our case the bed was a platform bed, so it is probably lower than what you have, which allows for a little more height to the headboard. Or you could keep the taller height headboard and "cut it out" under the window. I've done a rough little sketch that shows the idea. I think you should "mock it up" with blue painters tape on the wall first to see what shape and height works best for you and your son and have him lean against the wall to see where his head rests on the wall and it needs to be taller or shorter.
