World Contracting LLC if it makes you feel better, go ahead... there is no need. I would spend the money on a thermal break under the tile such as 1/8" Wedi board or cork underlayment

World Contracting LLC if using thin veneer you can just drill through, anchoring into the studs.

If your using anything solid, most kits come with lead anchors that will suffice.
amandaala Thanks World Contracting. It is Horizon Stone which I guess is a stone veneer? So just purchase a quality mounting bracket and we should be ok? Is there particular types of electrical boxes for the cable and power that we need?
TMK Remodeling Have an electrician install junction boxes directly behind the flat panel so you can cover them and have short wires. You will need both high and low voltage boxes. Consider having an extra box covered by a plate since you never know what the next AV format will be. Where will the cable box be located? Ideally not on the same wall but in adjacent cabinet where you can connect the cable feed directly into receiver. Modern receivers can take the AV inputs and send them to the flat panel via HDMI and the audio via optical or digital feed to the speakers. At a minimum you will want HDMI, output jacks for stereo along with power receptacle.

World Contracting LLC as we stray from tradition, more and more homes lose the tub.

we do a few "tub conversions" each year.
World Contracting LLC here is our most recent...

cyclingthroughlife The house that we are building now has no tub in the master bath, but does have a nice shower with a seat. The kids bath has a tub and a shower combination. Interestingly, our kids have decided they want to use our shower instead of their tub/shower.

Prior to finalizing our architectural plans, I did speak with a realtor and posed this very question you are asking. Her answer was that it depends. First, if you're going to be building a big house (4000+ sq ft) or a very high end house, it is expected that you have a tub in the master bathroom. Second, outside of those homes where it is expected you have a master tub, for most homes, most resale value concerns are addressed by a tub in a secondary bathroom. Third, lack of a tub in the master bath is not a deal killer nor adversely impacts resale for most buyers. That is a small nit compared to other things buyers care more about - kitchens, number of bedrooms, lot size/view, single story, etc.

remike I'm a Realtor and as long as the shower is spectacular you can get away without the tub.

Cozy Casita And plant masses of different bulbs all over that sloping area for nice displays of colour, from early spring to fall.
Ginkgo Leaf Studio I'll add that rock outcroppings using our native Lannon or other Wisconsin stone would be less costly than full retaining walls and would offer a more natural appearance. Then interplant with plants appropriate for the slope and amount of light. The grading/drainage issue would still need a professional.

World Contracting LLC the obvious problem with hot water radiant is the fact you need a boiler to heat the water!! Also, idealy (although you can get away with less) 2" build up of cement or gypcrete.

The bathrooms we add heat to are usually getting electric. all that is needed is an open spot on your fuse box to run a 20A line to power it up. If you have a large bathroom you may need to get a 220v thermostat.

The wire is simple to install and work quite well! Some mesh mounted versions we will bed into thinset or cover with a self leveling cement... this also helps prep a nice flat floor for the tile to be installed over.

phiwwy we ended up using electric. our electrician installed it, works fine. i think the one we used was NuHeat.

mcmai i was also going to vote for the Ontare residence photo above. but creativetileman's red glass tile is pretty compelling. in either case, you clearly need red knobs for your stove. :)

kustombuilt A nice white mantel to break it up? Would be tricky to build but could be done.

World Contracting LLC I would veneer over it with something more modern... perfect example is our most recent, used a dry stack stone.

World Contracting LLC here is a more modern take... install dry stack stone over existing

Chandani Apologies if I am repeating.... didn't read through all the responses. I really like the stone, though I am sure you don't want to hear that. I think part of the problem is the mortar/grout is too dark. If it were a more mid-tone grey, it would be less busy. A simple chunkier rustic mantle would balance things. If you really don't like the colours, I've seen a white wash done on stone like this to subtly change the colour.
HERE Design and Architecture I like the mantle and the stone. I agree with the remarks about the grout. The paint color on your walls, however, is not helping. I would let the stone be the stone and paint the wall something completely unrelated. I would also get some different window treatments. I think the ones you have are too heavy and frilly for a room with a fireplace like this one. I would also get a quieter fire screen.

If you are considering wallpapering a bathroom with a steam room in it, assuming the steamer was properly built, sufficient ventilation is a must!

Wallpapering is not a simple trade, there are many different compositions of paper on the market and many types of glue. We always hire a certified paper hanger for any of our projects, our guy is a member of the PDCA and the wallpaper hangers guild.

When i need something done, I seek out such professionals in their trade for their experience.

    World Contracting LLC Christine,

The Ebbe drain barrel will fit into most common clamping flanges. it sets the same as it would any threaded 3 part drain, into thinset on top of some type of weep hole protection.

John Whipple - By Any Design ltd. I have not seen the Gerberit Wall Drain yet. This might not be approved for North America as yet but perhaps they are doing the process. I'll take a look for you.

Found this video on ACO's web page. Shows how simple a linear drain can be installed in a traditional shower build.
