Love this bedroom. Is the wall paint done with a ragged affect or is it just the light that makes it look like it has a slightly mottled effect? I love the way it doesn't look 'flat' but more textured. How did you get that affect?

vjaffe, the walls were base-coated in a mid-tone, blue, satin-sheen paint chosen based on the bed-covering. Then I applied a navy blue glaze to the walls and ceiling using a big floppy brush, in a cloudy hatch-stroke fashion. The glaze was applied more heavily as it got nearer to the center of the ceiling. If you plan on trying this, it works best to tape off each wall separately (do north and south walls one day, and east west walls the next. Otherwise the glaze dries much to quickly to control trying to do all walls at once (you get ugly overlap lines). Then, the same with the ceiling: tape off all the edges of the ceiling and start in one corner and work the glaze across the surface on the diagonal; you have to work fast as the glaze's open time is limited. Working on the diagonal helps any overlap marks that may occur to look more organic. NOTE: it is best to do the ceiling FIRST so any drips on the wall can be wiped off. Good luck!

The carpet is similar to a berber but designed for kid use. It also hides stains. The inspiration for the ceiling came from the Land of Nod bedspread that is also in the picture. What's not visible in the picture are the stars that are glow in dark.

We love Lilo and Stitch. Great painting on the ceiling. Going to take the same idea for a Rapunzel themed room for my daughter.

The stars are a series of stencils made for this project. They are stenciled in an off-white colored paint and then over-stenciled with glow-in-the-dark paint. The glow-in-the-dark paint does not have any covering ability, so you must first establish your shape with an opaque base-paint.

A faux finishing technique was applied to create the blue walls above the chair railing. Solid colors below complement the theme.

All the colors were taken from the bedding. The bedding can be found on Land of Nod website.

Cause it could be a girls room too and the ruffle isn't frilly to me...

Unfortunately, I do not have information for this.
Carpet was selected and installed by homeowner prior to us designing the bedroom.

        5. Paint a dreamscape on the ceiling. Launch your kids’ dreams into orbit with a vibrant, out-of-this-world mural painted on the ceiling. The one pictured here was done by hand and cleverly incorporates the central light as the sun. This was done by painting the sun’s rays around the pendant, then hanging balls painted as planets in expanding orbits around it. The imaginative use of upper space in this bedroom provides a whimsical way to inspire sleep and dreaming each evening.
