These floors look old and refinished and it's likely this spot was damaged beyond repair. We had wood floor issues like this in a 100 year old home we owned years ago. Replacing the boards could be on their "to do" list, but if not it's part of the character.

I love character homes, but this house is quite pristine and therefore a odds with "character" floor. Maybe I'm just OCD!

The lock set was chosen by the owner, however you should be able to find a very similar model from http://www.houseofantiquehardware.com/.

Dimension of the whole unit, bench, beadboard, etc. - Our entry is almost this exactly and I would love to replicate this bench unit entirely. I see many others ask for the dimensions but did not find the answer. I have a carpenter, but would love to know the dimensions to compare. Thank you so much - Beautiful entry!

Beadboard type - I love the beadboard and color it is painted. I will contact Nantucket Beadboard, however, I wanted to ask you if you know if you used standard beadboard or v groove on this? It looks to be about 1/2" thick-my best guess. Thank you for whatever help you can recall on this.

Is the beadboard plank or 4x8 and what profile strd bead 3" on center? - I'm having a hard time finding nice looking bead board locally. I might have to have some shipped and want to get the look right the first time. I am applying bead board wainscoting to my family room and my laundry room walls. All I can find at the big box and local lumber stores is a v-bead 1" or 1.5". Seems very busy. I see you use bead quite a bit and I love the look. What are you using 4x8 sheets or plank? Which profile? Standard bead, v-bead and how wide between each bead? Where do you get it? I live in Colorado. Thanks so much. My little farmhouse thanks you too for any suggestions you can send my way.

Utility can be nice to look at. If activity is your thing, and your day is about getting to the next thing on time, then just create mission control in the entry.
