I'm the designer of the kitchen... so you can take my word. The cabinets are painted with Benjamin Moore Super White oil based paint.

Hi Jason. Love your kitchen design. Great to see some use of colour. I am wondering are these cabinets solid wood painted or an artificial material like MDF? Many people are trying to convince me of MDF but I love wood. These cabinets look fantastic, so if they are MDF then I'm a convert! Thanks so much for your help.

I don't know the specific number or name of that particular Benjamin Moore "Black." The finish color had no traces of blue, gray or brown. It had the appearance of a true and pure black.

Maybe you have already found the black color of paint you were after however just in case, I am in process of searching for a specific tone and came across Benjamin Moore "Black" Color # 2132-10. Hope this helps you further.

Hi and thanks for your interest. The floors are solid white oak, 3/4" x 3 1/4". They are finished with "Satin" sealer. As they are widely available, you can call a local floor dealer for supply options or check the internet.

What we advise our glass tile clients to do is to visit a tile showroom and ask to borrow grout chips which are part of every reputable grout company's palette. For your situation, I would take an off-white, plus a couple of neutrals like a light and/or dark gray. Just take home some grout samples and live with them for a few days - I suggest taping them to your backsplash to see what works for your eye.

Also, keep in mind that the choice color grout could also be hinged upon the actual, dark color you are using on your countertop and/or tile color...as an example, if it's an espresso top, perhaps a lighter tone of the same color will work as grout. As you can see in the photo above, Mr. Urrutia's design works well because he has the white cabinetry to offset the color in the grout - and his wall color is of the same tone of the tile. He has done an incredible job of blending all the colors to create a beautiful kitchen.

    Morning,
The white cabinets, brown tile and stainless fixtures will look great with dark brown floors (not necessarily "black" floors). I wouldn't recommend pairing black cabinets with a black or dark brown floor. They'll look a bit heavy and will need some necessary contrast. Light floors are always practical as they reflect sunlight and hide dust, scratches and other blemishes in the floor. Dark floors are less forgiving in regards to maintenance and are a very moody design statement. --Jason Urrutia/Urrutia Design

Hi and thanks for your interest in our project. A black range and black counters will look fine together as long as you have lighter colors like white cabinets to keep the kitchen from feeling too masculine or heavy. Hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your project!

Dark brown cabinetry looks awfully dated these days, unless it is done with clean lines and paired with a nice, crisp white. This is warm and modern at the same time.A cabinet pro can help update your dated brown cabinetry

If your kitchen isn't doused in natural light, but you'd still like to explore the idea of black cabinets, bring in other light-reflecting materials. The white upper cabinets, stainless steel appliances and hardware and the texture created by the white grout and black backsplash tiles work beautifully with the black cabinets.
