Thank you all for your feedback. I'm reluctant to go with a darker dining set because the room is already dominated by dark cabinets. I like the idea of keeping the table but with different chairs.

That's what I did. I used slate grey cushions on my benches for my rustic pine table. I think it looks good but I wasn't sure before I put it all together

You can definitely mix these styles. Modern lines with restoration touches are very popular right now and one of my favorite looks. You just have to do it right! In order to make the kitchen work with the table, you need a contemporary rug with possibly a geometric pattern and more modern looking chairs. The chairs should contrast with the table and have a sleek profile with an awesome upholstered fabric. You could do a transitional light fixture to balance the two spaces. Maybe swap out your barstools for a industrial-metal look to bring some of the rustic feel over to the kitchen. Plus the floors give the space a warm natural feel. Go for it!

This RH table comes ina painted black, which might be better and is also on sale. Then go with light or white chair frames and lively fabric so it isn't too heavy.

You have two completely different styles here: a traditional dining room and a contemporary kitchen. Maybe you should try and blend the rooms in style a little more then the dark and light wood colors could work together. i personally would not put these two styles together like you have represented in the photos. You can, however, incorporate both styles together without it being so noticeable. Good Luck!
