Bathroom tile in a 5x9 guest bathroom

While my husband and I disagree on the style for the vanity we do agree that we want to tile the floor and shower - not sure of the walls. Presently there is a bathtub /shower combo which we will replace with a full shower. Should the tile on the floor be 12x12 squares or 12 x 24 rectangle? same question for the shower? On the floor if 12x12 should they be in rows or 'angled". we disagree on the vanity - he wants more of a furniture /cabinet ...for storage. I would rather have a unit that has maybe 2 large deep drawers (or doors that open) but I also want an open bottom shelf to display bath towels. Your thoughts?

Go with 12"x12" tiles on the floor, laying them on point will be more dramatic but cost more because you get more tile waste with this pattern. You certainly can use the same tiles on the walls (assuming the tile comes with a bull nose for the edges) but consider putting a decorative band around in small mosaics such as glass to break up the large format tiles. As for the vanity, I would recommend you create an idea book here on house of the type of vanity you have in mind and the one he has in mind and compare and contrast until you find a look you both like.
