We are building a new house and have wood in the dining area and tiles running through the foyer into the living room. Opposite to the dining area, on the left side, is the formal living room. I can't decide whether to put wood or tiles there. Wood would look symmetric on both sides of the foyer but I fear the foyer will stand out like a narrow alley of tiles. I don't want to do wood in the foyer due to the issue with scratches.
