I think it would depend on the room , and style of moulding you will use for coffered ceiling , if you r making in a kitchen then from my experience i can tell you that upper cabinets are fixed at 54" from floor , now add the size of your cabinets plus their crown moulding , 1 feet for space between finished cabinet height and coffered ceiling . Usually the the height measurement of coffered ceiling frame runs between 6"-1feet depending on the design you choose . I 'm not a professional designer or builder so I'm telling you from my experience from my own house being built at this moment .

Cameo Kitchens, Inc. Is the ceiling height a little over 9 feet high to the bottom of the coffer or including the coffer?
