Can you not put it along the length of the island instead of on the end? If not, then I suggest you have the wood cut in the same curved shape as the granite countertop but extending a 12 or more inches beyond.

I don't know what you mean by "cutting oak wood into the granite" unless you just left out a word and mean the granite shape. For legs on an island extension, I would use something like the ones shown below.

The main object of this is that I want more space for people to sit around not necessarily for eating just i have the space in the kitchen and I want to make use of it. When people come in they seem to base themselves around the kitchen and I just want something that they can sit on

I would add the table section at the end, lower than the granite. I don't understand what you mean about cutting the oak into the granite. If you mean you want the oak flush up to the granite and at the same level then that might be hard to do because of the curve on the granite, you would need to speak to a worktop fitter to find out.

Alternative is to replace the granite with either a much larger piece of granite or a larger wooden worktop.

Well, you could certainly provide some counter height stools without adding onto the counter. I would make the stools simple ones that don't call attention to themselves. Look at how the ones below are there to be sat upon but there's no overhang. The height you will need is called a counter stool. Or you have space for 2 at each end of the island with just a big of an overhang. People just like a place to perch while they chat with you while you're cooking. White stools would blend right into the island and be inconspicuous.
