The bedroom is a place for respite, a soothing environment to settle into for sleeping or relaxing. I'm drawn to cooler tones and casual bedding that has a kind of laundry-on-the-clothesline feel. I've assembled what I think is a classic bedroom with necessary objects and some trendy elements slipped in. — Sarah from The Estate of Things
I like this collected bedroom with its layered textiles and simple canopy in which to take refuge.
Catrina II Bed - $600
I love the subtle arch on the top and the casual ties on the sides of this headboard. And of course, the price is incredible!
Petite Rustique Bamboo Roman Shade - $32.39
Bamboo shades work with so many different interiors, anything from traditional to coastal, and they look great layered under linen drapes.
Peyton Linen/Cotton Drape - $89
The Peyton drape is my go-to because it is one of the prettiest and most affordable lined, linen-blend drapes available.
Yves Delorme Bastide All White Pillow Shams - $89.99
Using white linen and white sheets as a foundation will allow a lot more freedom to accent with a wider range of colors.
Cameron Tufted Chaise, Talc
Normally I prefer an armless bench at the end of the bed, but I was really drawn to the curvy, feminine arms of this piece. Place it at the end of the bed, and find a great ikat pillow to throw on it.
Hand Woven Original Organic Lumbar Silk Ikat Pillow Cover by Sukan - $49.95
I love the simplicity and color of this ikat print. It would look great in the center of the white bench at the foot of the bed.
French Stripe Rug - $79
I think a bedroom is a great spot for a striped rug; the bed breaks up the stripe. This yellow is a little more fun than a neutral, but it can still act as a neutral.
Paule Marrot Clouds Artwork - $2,200
I'm a huge fan of Paule Marrot's work, and these clouds would be beautiful above the bed.
Cream Ceramic Garden Stool - $230
This is a classic little accent table that, if needed, can be easily moved to any room in the house.
Vessels d'Art Lamp, Hourglass - $299
There are so many lighting choices, but when it comes to bedside lamps, I keep going back to a neutral gourd lamp. And I like a matching set.
Moroccan Stool, White - $99
Lately it seems like the thing to do is place a stool in front of your night stand for magazine stacking or what have you. This little Moroccan stool is perfect for layering.
'Leak' Contemporary Abstract Inkwash Painting by Manjuzaka Gallery - EUR 30
I'm a sucker for a black and white abstract, and this will look great hanging over a desk or nightstand.
Parsons Desk, Natural Grass Cloth - $499
I'm lovin' the parson's desk reinvented in grass cloth. It could be a vanity, nightstand or desk.
Chinese Chippendale Chair - $419
I love the lines and scale of a Chippendale chair, and I think it would be great pulled up to the grass cloth parson's desk.
Matteo Bedding Vintage Linen Duvet Cover - $495
Quite possibly the most sumptuous linen bedding, the perfectly soft and aged Matteo white linen duvet is a must-have.
Regina Andrew Apple, Saucer and Cigar Jute Pendants
If you're not tied to a ceiling fan, the natural texture and glow that these fixtures emit is perfect for a soothing space.
Keighley Espresso Wood Top End Table - $194.99
A good nightstand has a mix of drawers and shelves for stowing and stacking.
