Open Living Room, Kitchen, and Breakfast Nook

If we cannot save enough wood from the back bedroom to completely cover the renovated kitchen/breakfast nook area, we could do something like this.

I like the microwave in the cabinets and a small counter top below for the Keurig, toaster, etc.

Would like the breakfast nook table to have this "rustic" look.

Open staircase. Our living room would be on the left and breakfast nook on the right. You would get this view standing in the new kitchen area.

Staircase. I see this as the view from my current couch. The wall would be opened up to the left of the current entertainment center so that you can access the basement from the living room. The staircase would be partially opened up (not as open as this though).
