Mom's
In all bedrooms, I would make it so that dowels are adjustable over the years. So there needs to be a notched 2x4 at both ends and the dowel can be easily raised as children get older, or lowered as parents age. Also, I like to see the bottom dowel closer to the front so that the clothes are kind of off-set and you can see the bottom clothes better.
Flat kitchen ceiling; front door sees great room; kitchen hidden by fireplace (or a plain wall or any room divider); or visitors can be directed immediately downstairs without tracking through whole house to get to stairs.
Notice ceiling beams for "architectural statement." Kitchen/island at back; formal dining could be to right.
Looks like great room juts out for view on three sides.
Lots of light; leads to porch; don't have to have high ceilings; kitchen could be to right.
French doors, storage.
Hmmmm...close? Don't have to have arches; notice recessed lights; can choose different style window.
Outside exposure; dining table could be where these big chairs/table are.
Dining area ahead; kitchen/island to right; great room nearby; lots of storage although you might not want see-through doors or open shelves..
You probably want some sort of really wide entry way separating kitchen and great room? This kitchen has island and separate table.
More of a table look than a bar look.
I would love to have Mr. Suttons sink "re-bathed" and maybe incorporated into your mud room as a working sink or just as part of the counter to set things in/on.
I could see something like this going to the mud room...the little room where you wet your keys and the mail.
Do you think that this table could be on rollers...then roll table the other way after dinner to make the sink visible?! But you'd almost need another little sink somewhere else in the room. Just thinking.
SOMEthing like's Nolas gas fireplace, visible from three sides.
Interesting.
Nervigs had a sun room similar to this at their new Ankeny house. They used it as an informal sitting room with red furniture. Notice molding. Is sun room ceiling a little lower?
Fabric fades next to windows, as do carpets. Do floors fade or "weather" in the sun?
Bright yet cozy looking. Notice ceiling treatment; maybe it's cork. Are you having heated floors in kitchen and living room? Floor has wide boards; sort of "rugged" or "cottage" looking.
If you are not committed to having an island, this is a very efficient kitchen; everything one step to the right or left of center. Notice inset lights to eliminate shadow when working at counter and stove..
Good idea.
Yah.
Pull-out shelf is worth it. Jared can build me this for Christmas.
Do not like enclosed frig but DO like recessed shelves to take advantage of that trditional empty/dead space.
Sink/garbage disposal/dish washer altogether with where the dirty dishes will be!
Really?!?!
Top oven; then microwave; then bottom oven; then small drawer is any room remains. LIKE having a surface next to stove. LIKE having a surface next to refrig altho the side-by-side negates having adjacent counter space.
I like it ALL! But my point is that as I get older, I hardly have the arm strength to bend/reach across sink to hoist open the window. Grandma had crank-out type but people walking outside hit their head!
roll-out shelves
This ladder idea is not as preposterous as it might seem. Size of pantry is not preposterous either. Shelves need to be wider.
wide-board floor kind of country; color better than dark.
Jeanie has tray and it's wonderful
Not step necessarily but open access to outside and to family room.
Not the booth, but can the overhang on island be made into a drop-leaf
Or instead of slide out, have tip-out bin

Keep countertop clear
