These pictures demonstrate how bold colors can be tasteful. Bold does not have to scream or be obnoxious.

mediterranean dining room by Myriam Payne
One accent wall can create high drama and really pull your eye to the art. What would have been boring is now delicious.

Just the little bit of color on the upper cabs gives this kitchen the WOW factor. It is just enough to be totally bold without screaming.

Another case of a little bit of bold color can add absolute WOW instead of boooring.

Here is a case where 3 high contrast colors were used but they create such a warm feeling. Doesn't it remind you of fall leaves.

mediterranean bathroom by House + House Architects
This very high contrast bathroom fits its architectural roots. Spanish Mexican design often uses these high contrast color combos. The terra cotta clay color could actually be considered a neutral in this room because of the adobe clay found in the natural landscape of the area. I would limit such high contrast to selected areas in a home so as not to overwhelm with color. This is a "special" space because of its limited use of the contrast.

This is a good example of a variety of contrasting colors working together. The ceiling, walls and floors & wood trim are neutral so the color is does not overwhelm.

Great example of a simple bit of color used in the room in a couple of places. It's just paint on an end table and a patterned fabric pillow but how absolutely fabulous the outcome. No screaming color here. Just tasteful & bold.

Simple bold paint transforms this bath. The simple contrasting color in the stool makes much more of a statement than if the room was cluttered in many places using that same color.

Don't forget outdoors. Purple is a high contrast to natures green. How beautiful this looks.
