The molding is also not very wide — my guess is 3 to 4 inches — so it isn't too heavy for the scale of the room.

A pair of chairs can be used to complement a sofa (or pair of sofas) in a U shape, like what is seen here. To shake up the look, use one couch and a pair of chairs on the opposite side or, for a larger room, position the chairs in an L shape in relation to the couch. Whichever configuration you choose, a pair of chairs is a versatile addition to the decor.
