French Country Guest Bathroom

Eclectic Bathroom, Boston

The details are what make this formal guest bathroom so rich and inviting. Decorative trim highlights the graceful swag of the pleated top silk curtain. An oversize large ornate gold frame encompasses a wide bathroom mirror. Gold detailing is continued in the richly painted store hutch in the foreground. High end gold faucet and hardware and a marble top crown a hand-painted bombe bathroom vanity. In the background, a custom window seat provides a spot for relaxation. WKD’s design brief was to infuse graceful grandeur for entertaining into this former 1907 stable and carriage house. One would imagine that the carriage house held, at least to some degree, historic and beautiful architectural details. However, this was not the case. Everything – architectural moldings, flooring, hardware, etc. - were designed and fabricated to the designer’s specifications. The home features a stunning French-style salon, elaborate adjacent dining room, a handsome paneled library, a Tuscan inspired gourmet kitchen and dining area, a wet bar, a beautifully landscaped outdoor terrace, and a stunning master bath. The project has received numerous regional and national awards and has been published several times.
