LIGHTING: under countertop. What kind is this, and how does it work? Brand and model spec number? - Is this puck lighting? What is the diameter of the light? What is the spacing between each light? Could this be used in a ceiling to accent a glass tiled accent wall? Is it halogen, LED, incandescent, fluorescent? [Puck, pot, canister, recessed - Can you please explain the difference?] »
Joseph Stabilito This kitchen was done several years ago, and the light are undercounter halogen, about 3" in diameter. One is centered under each 30" cabinet. But today I would use even smaller led spotlights, less than 2: in diameter and more powerful.
Cynthia Taylor-Luce I am squinting at the picture and I don't see what you two are talking about! Do you mean that you can plug appliances into that narrow band that's at the top of the backsplash? I just can't see it! Thanks.
Shimmer. I love everything about this kitchen - the dark, sleek cabinets and the frosted glass, the marble counters, and the nice lines - but it's the backsplash that really gets me. Made of irridescent tile, it faintly shimmers at every angle. Part desert mirage, part glitter, all glam.
The kitchen is another great space for adding mosaic tiles to enhance the decor of the room. Here, the tiles are also functional, since they serve as a backsplash for the kitchen sink. The tiles that you choose will determine how much they stand out in the room. In this case, the combination of muted colors along with the small size of the tiles makes them look artful without necessarily standing out.
