Two simple renovations of this 1920’s bungalow transformed the function and flow of two of the most important spaces in a house; the bathroom and the kitchen. The owner wanted to update the spaces to reflect a modern lifestyle while respecting the house. By changing the flow and function of the kitchen it now works for entertaining and multiple chefs while the clean spare finishes keep it fresh and clearly modern. The bathroom was made even smaller than its original form in the renovation of the kitchen so every inch of space had to be used. By unifying the finish on the surfaces, using small modern fixtures, and with a simple glass partition the bathroom is minimalist, elegant, and timeless.

this stove hood has a large metal top, is that inside the cupboard? - I am assuming that this hood can be externally vented. When I look at the picture of the hood online, it has a large extension piece at the top. Is that installed inside the cupboard?

I love this kitchen and am thinking about doing something similar, but instead using a "marbled" quartz such as Cambria Torquay or Caesterstone Misty Carrera. Because we're doing white cabinets, I'm considering adding a little pop by doing Ann Sacks subway tile in Crackle Flannel.
If anyone has an opinion about this plan, I'd love to hear it....as I'm by no means a designer and am trying to piece the key elements together on my own.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!! »
bridget76 I loved Torquay in the showroom, but then the 12"x12" sample seemed a little tan. I went ahead with it anyway bc a favorite designer said she loved it. Check out Tineke Triggs work on Houzz. When the actual slabs arrived I was thrilled - such a natural blend of grey and "greige" swirls.
Misty Carrera looked too manufactured to me...the swirls were so heavy and dark. I was going for something more natural and light. We chose 4cm to give the counters some umph, but held off on 5cm for fear they would've seemed too heavy for the space. We're really happy with the clean, squared edges against the beaded inset cabinets. For me it's the right blend of classic and contemporary.
Bill Fry Construction - Wm. H. Fry Const. Co. Looks like a Viking Professional Custom Series VGCC5304Bx (or similar)
http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/VGCC5304Bx.html ajmadison has a cool search feature on appliances, I looked in ranges and used the search criteria of gas, freestanding, 30", 4 burner
Note that you can switch out the handles to black and get a flatter trim in the back such as the one shown in the photo.

shelf over range and sink/window. use of space in a small kitchen
we will need creative storage solutions like this. I found something similar pineterest.
Like these frameless, shaker-style cabinets. They are maple doors that have been painted in a white paint. Houzz comment was that any manufacturer of frameless cabientry can provide you with something that looks almost exactly like this. Also like the hardware.
