ritaemilia Could you please tell me whether the draperies are lined. I understand that they are a linen fabric. Could you please tell me the manufactures and color. Thank you very much.
What style of drapery is used? - These drapes are beautiful! They appear to be a closely spaced box pleat with a button detail...is that correct? Just love them and the rest of the room we can see...lovely! »
zods I bought a hard tape (don't know the name) it doesn't have strings to pull so that it can make gatherings it's just plain. will it give me the same pattern if I use it. How do I make them?
Trim Color - This is a lovely, soothing room. I am thinking of painting my living room a pale yellow, possibly this Roycroft Vellum now that I see it. But what trim colors go best with light yellow walls? I'm using Dove White everywhere, but fear that it won't work well with this yellow. If you could recall the trim color you used, that would be very helpful. Thank you! »
The rod is actually a gold leaf finish by The Finial Company and it has an elbow return. There isn't a Roman shade there, although I can see why you thought there might be. It is the millwork of the window casing. Thank you, Renée
Karyn Rochelle I have a question. I'm loving this color for my home office (in the basement). There are no windows. Would this color appear as light and soft without any natural light? Is there a better color you would recommend to get this look in a low light space? thanks!
Can you help? I am going to try to make the draperies myself or get something similar. - Could you please please tell us the company, style name and color of the linen drapery fabric? Thanks very much. The look is so soft and calming and I am trying to replicate it as best I can. »
Here is another traditional look (albeit an updated version) elegant in its simplicity. Box pleats with a button detail and a slight puddling on the floor show that traditional doesn't have to be fussy.
Small details like buttons atop the custom linen drapes and fringe on the bottom of this chair are always on a professional designer's mind. The button detail is also present in the dining room.
If Coco Chanel had draperies, I bet they looked something like this. The button at the top of each pleat is a subtle and sophisticated touch. Do you like the break in the fabric at the bottom? It adds just a little bit of visual movement and is best for a drape that will remain stationary so you don't have to arrange it when panels are opened and closed.
"Break." When the drapery panel hangs past the finished floor length, it "breaks" the visual vertical lines of the window treatment and causes a fold in the fabric.Tip: Draperies constructed 3 inches too long create the perfect break — this is considered to be the industry standard.
