heyjeni Bo, we live in Menlo Park and are interested in similar shower, though a bit more narrow. Would be interested in estimate. Can do some work own too to bring down cost.
I've heard that travertine is very porus and shouldn't be used for a shower. Any comments? - We want to use a travertine slab that has been on the market about three years. I know that I have to seal it every year. Should I be concerned about bacteria, mold or the look of the travertine over time. We Live in Arizona which is very dry. »
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC Bacteria and mold are not concerns with stone or tile - it is always caused by the grout. If you are using a slab then you will not have issues with the grout lines! Just make sure to request a penetrating sealer be applied and that mold-resistant setting materials be used. When cleaning it, we recommend to use Fabuloso (available at normal big box stores).
We use travertine the most of any of our products for showers and we do not have any complaints from our customers about care and maintenance. Please see the about section of our website for more information about how to care for natural stone.
ABK Today All tile and grout are porus so it is very important to waterproof your entire substrait. We use the Kerdi shower system made by Schluter. It's a little pricy however it's a phenomenal product. We use it for all of our shower applications (we do about 30 showers a year).
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC Since we did not design this project (we only provided the tile), I do not know exactly, but it looks like it is around 5' x 5'. Thank you for your question.
The homeowner provided the paint in the project, but our Mocha Onyx mosaics (used here as accent) look really nice with sage green tones, which is something like what the homeowner chose.
What is the name of the travertine tile used? - Love this look! What is the name of the travertine tile on the shower walls? What are the sizes of the tiles used? What is the tile trim at the top? Is the floor of the bathroom tiled with the same tile as on the shower walls? What is the pattern of the tiles on the floor? »
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC The beige tiles are Classic Travertine--the lower half is honed and filled finish, and the top is tumbled. The mosaics are Mocha Onyx travertine 1x1 tumbled.
You can purchase these materials from Stonemar Natural Stone Company. Feel free to give us a call 856 795 8300
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC I believe that this client probably wanted the extra privacy when they were showering, or perhaps they preferred the look of symmetry.
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC I agree that they appear to be brushed nickel finish. However, I do not know what manufacturer these fixtures are made by. The fixtures for this project were externally sourced by the client and their contractor (http://creativerd.com/).
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC The countertop is a granite. However, we did not supply the countertop for this project so I am unsure of the name. I believe it was a stock piece that came with the vanity. Thank you for your question, and good luck with your project.
Where can I get this shower door? I have a shower almost identical to this one and everyone in my area wants me to install a shower door and glass panels with ugly metal trim (like from the 70's). I cannot find anyone who will get me a door/walls like this. thanks »
StoneMar Natural Stone Company LLC This work was custom-fabricated by a local glass door installer. Does your general contractor have any contacts in the area for frameless glass doors? Easco (a shower door manufacturer) may have the style you are looking for: http://www.easco-shower.com/pages/estate/
