The Shabby Nest Try Benjamin Moore's Decatur Buff for a similar wall color, and Benjamin Moore's Snow White for a similar trim color. Try Benjamin Moore's Blue Flower for a similar floor color.
The stairs lead up to the master suite over the living room. "Fixing the leaky skylight, new lighting, a new built-in for linens and fresh paint give this upper stair hall a crisp makeover," Smith says.
4. Increase natural light and air flow. Properly placed skylights and windows allow more natural light to stream into homes, reducing reliance on artificial light as well as allowing us to regulate the temperature without the aid of air conditioning. Before making any changes, consider the amount of light each room currently gets as well as what time of day you usually use the room. A skylight might prove to be too much in an already warm south-facing living room, but could be just the thing to light up the reading nook at the top of your stairs.Tubular Daylighting Devices Bring the Sun In
DO: Use natural light.Pull back your curtains and draw up your shades so that as much natural light as possible gets into the room. Colors will stay true, and your picture won't have as much of that yellowish tinge. Ideally you'll be able to compose your shots around the light. Avoid areas that are very dark or bright. The natural light from this skylight is flooding the hallway, which is great since hallways often lack a strong light source. In this case the bedroom door is left open to bring in any additional light and to minimize shadows on the left side of the frame.
An easy way to create the chimney effect is to put an operable skylight above the stairway. When open, the skylight will draw the cooler air from the lower floors up, keeping the top floor cooler in the process.
Our upper stairhall needs some love. Architect mentions creating a custom built-in for linens. Our stairhall has access to the side of a never-used closet in the home theater room. Maybe convert?

Do we want to go modern and plain for the door casements? This has no detail in it. I would like a minimalist approach but a bit more than this if possible.
