What wall color would compliment this hutch/ buffet when it's in a room with off white kitchen cabinets - I have this color furniture in my dining room...the top of the buffet & table are just clear coated. This dining room is sunken down from the kitchen which has off white cabinets. I painted the walls pale yellow and had a hard time trying to decide on what color window treatments would match the mix of furniture, walls and cabinets...I am willing to do some painting, like walls and kitchen cabinets (cabinets will be updated at a later date) »
HOBNOB design You're going in the right direction with yellow. French blue and lemon yellow are classic colors of Provence and perfect for a kitchen/dining area. Introducing green accents and trim will round out the palette and make the rooms lively and fresh. Hope this helps - Best, Angela.
alliegee Thank you Angela,,,,there are times when I think I should have just painted the buffet/ hutch another color like charcoal or maybe a cream color,,,but I do like the color I have!
Anne DeCocco Great color! Look at Sherwin's Hyper Blue/6965 or Blue Chip/6959 for similar shades. Remember that there's a light on the cabinets, making the color a little brighter.
Painting your built-ins to match other key design elements, such as fabric, can really make a beautiful statement. (But be prepared to re-paint if you grow tired of your accent color!)
Blueberry gets a more dignified, traditional spin in this dining space, but it still feels fresher than a natural wood tone or white paint. If you're not sure about committing to brightly colored cabinetry, a smaller section such as this can be a great opportunity to road test it.
Outside out farther than center - we should make the center section higher but less deep, the outside sections shorter but deeper, and maybe the top of the center section is as deep as the outside sections, so it overhangs the counter
