Brownhouse Design, Los Altos, CA Yes, it does pop out. the empty space on top is for the center speaker which had not yet been installed when the photo was taken.
I really like the TV above the Fireplace, but would like to know the size. - The dimensions of the hole for the TV would also be really helpful along with the dimensions of the mantel and outer columns. Is there a sound bar above the TV? Thanks! »
Brownhouse Design, Los Altos, CA It is a 48" TV and and the space above is for a center speaker which had not been installed at the time of photography. There is about a 2" open perimeter around the tv for ventilation and access to back.
Like the fireplace mantle, is it custom made or premade. - Is it possible to get specs. for the fireplace mantle. The header below the shelf looks like it sits about 1/2 inch further out than the columns. How is this done? »
Where is the designated place for cable receiver/ DVD player and all other electronics that the tv hooks up to - This picture shows a beautiful design with no shelves. We would like to redo our fireplace without having to build shelving units around it, but we don't know how to effectively store the necessary electronics. . »
Karen Parham - KMP Interiors This may be oversimplifying it, but you can purchase a universal remote with an RF signal which will allow you to operate your components wirelessly. This will allow you to store your components in a different location (hall closet for example) and still be able to operate the TV and other components from your viewing spot. Head over to your closest electronics store and they'll be able to hook you up with the right equipment. I just did this in the sitting room of a client's bedroom. We put the TV over their fireplace and the components are housed in a linen closet in an adjacent bathroom. Below are the initial design drawing and the room prior to furnishing it. Hope this helps.
Is that a television over the fireplace? - We're looking for ways to "camouflage" a TV over a fireplace. If this is a TV, it's done in a very tasteful way. »
smith2martin Don't let the builder tell you that the install is difficult. Actually easier than a vented... No vent stack to run. Push it through the hole that the framers left, weather seal the edges and plumb the gas line.
wflowers106 That rug is beautiful and i just love that color it is different and i love the flower design in it, is that coral?and where can you get it?
lacortej The components and CAT5 are all wired to one "home run
typ location (which is in a cabinet on another wall). The remotes are rF not IR so you don't have to "point" at the component for switching.
Fireplace Dimensions? - What are the dimension of the fireplace, stone, and mantel? We love the look of the mantel with the stone but the room we want to put it in is narrow. »
Pillow fabric - Lovely! Please tell me the brand name and color of the small diamond fabric on the pillow on blue chair. It would be perfect for a chair I want to re-upholster. Thank you. »
What color are your kitchen cabinets? - My home colors are very similar and I'm painting my kitchen white. I love the look of your cabinets with the browns and blues. Beautiful white! »
About the Fireplace - Does the heat stay in the house or is it drafty because it is a see throught to the outside? Also do you feel any heat coming in from the outside when it is sunny? »
Should I put the TV over the fireplace? Houzzer westave was getting ready to break ground in a new house and wondered if having two focal points in one room would be a problem. Other Houzzers chimed in with comments regarding eye-level height, different wall mounts, TV size, cabinetry, wires, glare, cover-ups and more. See the discussion
