Recessed Light Housings

551 Results
If you’re planning to install recessed lighting inside or outside your home, you’ll need more pieces than just a bulb and the visible part of the fixture. Recessed lighting cans are used to hold the bulb and trim together while hiding inside your ceiling. There are a few different types of recessed lighting housing available:

• New construction: Is used in a new home or room before the ceiling is installed.
• Remodel: If you already have an existing ceiling, this is the style to use.
• Shallow ceiling: If your ceiling has 2- by 6-inch joists, use this style.
• Insulation contact (IC)-rated: If your recessed light housing will be surrounded by insulation closer than 3 inches away, choose this style.
• Non-IC: Used if the insulation inside your ceiling is farther than 3 inches away from the housing.
• Slope ceiling: If your home features sloped ceilings, look for this type of housing and be sure to measure the angle before you buy.
• Airtight: This type reduces the airflow that occurs between the room below the housing and the room above.

You’ll find plenty of recessed light housing to help you complete your new lighting project right here on Houzz.
