This bathroom salvaged antique oak and black walnut trim and repurposed it into the millwork. In building the cabinetry ourselves, we made sure to celebrate boards that had some scars of their previous life: nail holes and scrapes from 100 years of use are carefully highlighted. In crafting a classically inspired but modern bath, we layered history into modernity, giving the room a new lease on the next 100 years.

A small bungalow in NE Portland was in need of a bathroom update. It was a quant space with original olive green shower surround and undistinguishable finishes. It did however have beautiful original trim and built ins that were important to keep. The homeowner was brave enough to go with a bold design which paid off in the end. Large hex tiles in dark gray were installed on the floors and half way up the walls to create a dramatic look. Subway tiles were applied to the upper half of the shower divided by a small glass tile liner. The original medicine cabinet, trim, and door knobs were kept to add a unique touch to the newly designed space.

The Vintage Brass Sink and Vanity is a nod to an elegant 1920’s powder room, with the golden brass, integrated sink and backsplash, finished with trim and studs. This vintage vanity is elevated to a modern design with the hand hammered backsplash, live edge walnut shelf, and sliding walnut doors topped with brass details. The counter top is hot rolled steel, finished with a custom etched logo. The visible welds give the piece an industrial look to complement the vintage elegance.

I custom designed this vanity out of zinc and wood. I wanted it to be space saving and float off of the floor. The tub and shower area are combined to create a wet room. the overhead rain shower and wall mounted fixtures provide a spa-like experience.
