Master Bath RetreatTraditional Bathroom, Seattle

This bath offers generous space without going overboard in square footage. The homeowner chose to go with a large double vanity and a nice shower with custom features and a shower seat and decided to forgo the typical big soaking tub. The vanity area shown in this photo has plenty of storage within the mirrored wall cabinets and the large drawers below. The mirrors were cased out with the matching woodwork and crown detail. The countertop is Crema Marfil slab marble with undermount Marzi sinks. The Kallista faucetry was chosen in chrome since it was an easier finish to maintain for years to come. Other metal details were done in the oil rubbed bronze to work with the theme through out the home. The floor tile is a 12 x 12 Bursa Beige Marble that is set on the diagonal. The backsplash to the vanity is the companion Bursa Beige mini running bond mosaic with a cap also in the Bursa Beige marble. Vaulted ceilings add to the dramatic feel of this bath. The bronze and crystal chandelier also adds to the dramatic glamour of the bath.

I used them for my floors, and I live in Texas, and I have no complaints and wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

I love the soft cream colors of this bathroom. What tile would compliment this vanity and walls for a stall shower? I like the Marfil tile or porcelain, but would like to hear or see what you used.

yasumit, yes, you can use Crema Marfil in various sizes/shapes and it's not too much. See my album of the Florida Coast Master Bath in my portfolio. We used all Crema Marfil tiles in various sizes, although we used a granite slab.

Only large tubs if you have a very large bathroom. I just bought a 48' claw foot for mine. I removed a very large corner tub. Granted I am only 5'4" and only wanted to use it to soak.
The result is my bathroom is now looking much bigger. Go to Signature hardware. I found a great selection at great prices and they have the faucets and drains. It was a little extra work to have the drain and water supply moved a few inches. But it will be awesome once everything is installed tomorrow. If you don't do the tub and enlarge the shower make sure you really trick it out with shower options and fabulous tile work. That's what sells houses. I have been doing this for 15 yrs and even in down markets the house with the most sparkle and gadgets sells faster and for higher prices. Hope this helps

The Houzz bathroom is my inspiration for my remodel. Attached are pictures of my current bathroom. Remodeling started today. Crema Marfil ordered for the countertops, backsplash, window seats, hexagon travertine for the floors, travertine brick pattern for shower, white freestanding tub ordered. Ordered similar jolie five light crystal beaded chandelier from lamps plus. Not sure what to do for paint colors for cabinets and walls (love the RL burlap), keep overhead lights over mirror or get sconces, frame mirror, pulls or handles. Any advise would be so appreciated.

Our master bath remodel has a similar color profile and aesthetic. We are adding a built-up crown molding and I was curious as to your opinion with regard to ceiling paint. We are going back and forth between a color a couple notches lighter from the wall color or white. The molding will be a canvas white color (matching the vanity and wainscoting). Thank you so much!

How did your finishes in the bathroom turn out? I am also wondering about doing chrome on the sinks and them bronze on cabinets?? Also thinking of this for the kitchen.
  • Kim
I think it works if both metals are cool tones or warm tones. In other words, the chrome or polished nickel looks pretty with bronze that is almost black. If the bronze is chocolate it may not be pleasing to the eye.

Hello Kayron This bathroom( North Tacoma Cape Cod renos) is stunning!, I keep going back to it. I also appreciate very much, how you take time to provide answers to questions and even a criticism here and there. I hope you don't mind helping me out with a colour choice for tile and counter top for my 7 x 12 bathroom. I have ordered a biscuit coloured 78 inch vanity, double basins just to stay away from white, but at the same time stay on the light side. Now I am stuck with colours to coordinate. My vessels are white. The rest of my house(1500 sq ft.) is painted with benjamin moore's hepplewhite ivory with black accents. Red oak natural stained wooden floors throughout except kitchen. My kitchen has Ben moore's( papaya)vanilla walls, natural stained cherry cabinets with crema marfil 3x6, back splash and Uba tuba counter top, Istone almond 18x18 porcelain floors. It all looks a bit mediterranean but I am not sure I want a purely mediterranean bathroom. I want it light with a feel of spaciousness. I also know I want to stay away from beige 'cos I am scared it will go out of fashion. My budget is $15k. Thanks and I wish you success in your projects even if you cannot help me.

Just saw this. We were planning on tiling our newl, yet to be framed, walk in shower all the way up on the outside wall. My husband likes this look better as he thinks you won't feel like you're in a cave. In your experience, is a wall fully tiled all the way up with a moderately priced tile a more economical way to go or doing this half wall with the tempered glass? I'm thinking the tile and installation might be less costly than that glass? Thanks

The upper cabinets are sitting directly on the counter. They were installed after the countertop, which makes for an extra step (extra time) in the installation. You see a shadow line of the drawer, as you wouldn't want the drawer to touch the counter. Potentially, there could be moisture issues if your sink it too close, or if the user of the bathroom splashes alot. See other photos in my portfolio to see how I have dealt with that issue.
