Need help picking out wall color

I need help picking out wall color for our great room. I like neutrals like taupe but I'm afraid it's way to similar to the brick fireplace color. I thought to do a darker brown/ taupe on the 2 walls connecting the fireplace, and then the other walls a lighter color. Also, it will be a light medium oak floor with white trim and doors.
