If you post a photo it will be easier to understand where the fuse box sits exactly in the room..

If it's not too high up on the wall you can always hang a photo or a mirror in front of it.

Since it is in the corner, the solution might be more complex, and the photo will help.

Another idea is to lean a 6' tall or taller freestanding framed mirror up against the wall against the fuse box, thus hiding the fuse box............

Perhaps a built-in storage would help disguise the fuse box.

Ours has a cabinet door over it. You know it's there but after awhile you just stop noticing it.

"Built-in" and "storage" are two words that won't fly with any electrician or inspector I know.

Curt, that doesn't make it right. We never put them in a closet, because the closet ends up being used for storage which is a clear violation of both the NEC and IRC.

Why not frame it out…make it larger than it is; maybe make a couple of these on the wall and then use the area for books, or collections. I think if it is framed larger, it will appear less of a “cover-up” and more of a decor descision.

You should absolutely NOT hang, lean or stack anything in front of the box that makes it more difficult to access in an emergency. You can, however, make a door out of a less valuable piece of framed art, or mount the frame to the DOOR of the box. If the box is not in a good location for art, and you REALLY hate it, it is usually possible to have it moved. This would have to be done by a licensed electrician and will probably be rather costly. Just depends on how much you want it moved. In my experience, I agree with Ken. Paint the door to match the wall and eventually, you will probably not notice it.

Even book shelves violate most code clearance requirements. Something that is very easy to get completely out of the way is fine. Like a picture, mirror, or something hinged that opens fully out of the way.

Fred S, if the framing accommodates being able to open the fuse box, moving a couple of books will only take a second. I am not suggesting a piece of furniture.

But, how about shutters and trim? Make it look like a window?

If the book shelf protrudes out past the front of the fuse box, it is a violation whether or not there are books on it. Read the link I provided.
