The pantry shelf to the right of the refrigerator makes use of the refrigerator doors found in the basement, too. The zinc bar top cost $850, so the clients opted for a more budget-friendly option on the other countertops. Salvaged slate chalkboards, found at Seattle's ReStore for $5 per square foor, were wet sanded, fit with a custom stainless steel edge and finished with linseed oil.

Use a tall lazy Susan in the pantry. Long a favorite way to address deep corners, this is a fabulous storage solution for those of you with a pantry.
Large drawers serve as lower cabinets, so the clients don't have to get on their hands and knees to reach the back of the storage space. A local carpenter customized the Ikea cabinetry, creating specialized storage such as this undersink recycling, trash and composting station.
