Venegas and Company In this particular installation, we have a clearance of 36". However you need to consider your cooktop and Hood combination to determine an acceptale clearance distance.
Love your design. More pics please. - Do you have more pictures of this space? I would love to see the countertops up close. Thank you for sharing your beautiful design. »
Wet bar near kitchen and cabinet above hood - Wonderful layout! I am designing something similar (including The wet bar nook near the kitchen) but I am having a hard time deciding if I really need three sinks. I am curious to know how often you use your wet bar sink a well as your prep sink? If you could do it over, would you find having three sinks in such close proximity a bit excessive and spend the money on upgrades elsewhere or would you still find it practical to keep all three?
I am also curious to know about the cabinet above your hood. Is that just hiding the rest of the hood or is there actual cabinet space behind the doors?
Thanks so much. I really love the flow in this room! »
Venegas and Company We did not source the tile for this project, but your local tile showroom will have a similar style and finish. We source most of our tile at Tile Showcase in the Boston Design Center.
Venegas and Company The white was selected by the homeowner and unfortunately I do not know the exact color. If I would were to make an educated guess, take a look at Benjamin Moore's "Super White".
slspinosa Yes, and 6 inches high. I suppose it may be a municipal code/regulation but enforcement may just depend on the inspector. Looks like we'll have to invest unfortunately!
New kitchen - We are trying to decide between floating bamboo flooring coffee color(everyone says don't do dark floors but we love the dark 5" planks)or red oak stained a dark color and if we choose red oak we have to go with the 4" I love the floors in this picture what is the wood.
The walls are storm but the sample I have from BM seems a lot darker than the picture shown. did you mix a little white? »
Venegas and Company This is a dark stained flat cut oak. The finish was not part of our scope of work and we unfortunately do not have further information. The walls are BM "storm" - images online and photographs do not always capture the exact color. If you feel the storm is too dark for your space, you could certainly cut white in to get the color you are looking for! Good luck with your project!
Hi, What is the clearance distance from the island to the microwave wall. Thanks - and is there usually a minimum distance for islands with seating that are backing a traffic walkway. Thanks »
Venegas and Company We left about 50" from the island to the microwave wall. There are quote a few things that come into play with your question - is this a common path of egress? Will people be passing when people are sitting? What is on your back wall? Do your counter stools have a back? or can they fit completely underneath your island? These are all questions that pertain to your individual design and help answer your question for minimum clearance. Without seeing your plans/design, we suggest trying to do at least 42-45". Good luck with your project!
Correct color of foyer/hall - Hi, love the hall but the wall color tagged just doesn't seem accurate. I know lighting changes paint color but vast sky on the strip is more of a baby blue. Any other suggestions? »
Venegas and Company The white was selected by the homeowner and unfortunately I do not know the exact color. If I would were to make an educated guess, take a look at Benjamin Moore's "Super White".
Venegas and Company Thank you for your inquiry! We purchase most of our light fixtures from Lucia Lighting & Design, but you maybe be able to source them from your local lighting showroom or online.
sierraimwalle My island is 102" by 36".. Do you think we should do 2 or 3 of those pendants? are they the 7 " ones? I know they make them in like 12" and 13" I think.. what would you suggest?
Venegas and Company The white was selected by the homeowner and unfortunately I do not know the exact color. If I would were to make an educated guess, take a look at Benjamin Moore's "Super White".
Venegas and Company The celing in this kitchen is 9'-0". The wall cabinets are overall 48" high; bottoms are 33" and the tops are 15" high. And they were made as one cabinet.
quadsplusone Since the cabinets are made as one, are the upper and lower doors separate or does it open as one, but gives the illusion that it is two, since I can see that there is additional hardware on the door?
Venegas and Company We have 38" clearance between the sink and island and the rangetop and island. The minimum is 36". Every floor plan is different and it all depends on your space. Good luck with your project!
Venegas and Company The stools were an item sourced by the homeowner and I unfortunately do not have further information. I wish we could be more helpful!

Venegas and Company Thank you for your inquiry! All of our cabinets are custom made, and the sink base is no exception. The cabinet is built to support the weight of the farmhouse sink. This particular sink is from Empire, model LF33. Good luck with your project!
Kitchen wall paint color - Just to clarify? What color did you use on the kitchen walls? I am doing a white kitchen with Super White quartzite counters and am looking for a good grey to go with it?
Thanks! »
jodyandkevin Very pretty! Wish I could find this material where we live. I love the look of marble, but don't want to put it in the kitchen because of worries of chipping and staining. I'm not very familiar with quartzite - how does it compare to granite and marble as far as chipping as staining is concerned? Thank you for the information!
how big should the hood be? - I am considering a hood like this for a 36" range. I was told that the hood should be slightly bigger than the size of the range. However all the pics I see look as if they are just as wide as the range or range/top. Thoughts? »
Venegas and Company Either way is perfectly fine. The important aspect that needs to be followed is the installation instructions and the specifications for both appliances. Each appliance will have instructions and they need to be followed. (make sure the hood blower can accommodate the power of the range). It is always good to visit your local appliance showroom!
Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods @vetters96: it's true that many cooktop/range manufacturers recommend using a range hood larger than the range. However, this recommendation is based at least partially on 2 factors:
first, there are quite a few range hoods on the market with relatively low-power blowers (200-500 CFM) - this is not enough power for adequate ventilation, so the cooktop manufacturer is recommending an oversized hood in order to compensate for the weak blowers;
second, many cooktop/range manufacturers also make range hoods, and if you compare their *recommendations* to the *specifications* of the range hoods they make, you'll notice an amazing coincidence...
That being said, with a powerful enough range hood (for example, all our units have 940-CFM blowers), installed at the recommended height and properly vented, there is no need to oversize the hood. So, if the cooktop/range is 36 inches wide, go ahead and use a 36-inch hood - which, by the way, is the most popular size and will offer the greatest variety (we offer 102 models in the wall-mount 36-inch category).
The only exception to this recommendation is very heavy cooking conditions, i.e. routinely using 3+ burners at the same time, a lot of searing & frying, and so on. If you're cooking for a family of 5 every day, you might want to go with the largest & most powerful hood possible. However, the other 95% of typical cooking conditions will be happily accommodated by a range hood that's as wide as the cooktop/range - like this example:
I am also doing a 2x4 white beveled tile backsplash....can you suggest what to do on the top edges and open ed - I am also doing a 2x4 white beveled tile backsplash....can you suggest what to do on the top edges and open edged walls? What type of trim?
Thank you! »
Venegas and Company We suggest adding a trim piece in the same material and maybe it has an simple edge detail. Maybe it's even a beveled edge? The top can be a similar trim piece or the 2x4 could be it. If you visit your local tile showroom they will have tile board showing options. Good luck!
Color question - I see that the paint color for the kitchen is listed as BM Storm. Is that correct. I just painted my kitchen this color and it is considerably darker and more "blue" than the color listed here. Just want to clarify. »
nellisengler Looks nothing like the BM Storm that is in my kitchen. The color is significantly darker and looks like the darker color featured in the other room. It is a rather dark blue/gray.
Venegas and Company Unfortunately I do not know the manufacturer of the tile but it is a 2x4 tile with a beveled edge. We often send our clients to Tile Showcase in the Boston Design Center, but you should be able to source a similar tile at a locally. I hope this helps!
Can you tell me the exact color and material used for the countertop perimeter? - I checked out caesarstone concrete and it is a light grey yet in the photo it looks off black. Thanks »
Dining room light - I love the industrial pendants, but can't figure out what to put over my dining room table. My kitchen will be very similar with the dining room table placed where this pic is taken from. What did you use over the table that coordinates with the industrial pendants? »
angelina4140 I would play on design cues from the dining room itself and not try match them too closely. A round drum pendant or a simple chandelier in the same metal finish work well. Most importantly, choose something you love.
Venegas and Company This dining room shows more of the same....I suggest you try something much larger in scale and entirely of glass. What about an antique glass cloche?
kitchen cabinet color finish (sheen) - Is the finish (or sheen) the same on the kitchen cabinets as on the trim, molding, & large door shown there to the pantry?
Thanks! »
Venegas and Company Thank you for your inquiry! They are not exactly the same, because they were not sourced by our cabinet maker, but the builder used our control as a color match. There is no "right" way to finish your space, but in this instance we did a match.

jacquemcd I think the storm paint is the darker paint in the adjoining rooms. What color is the lighter kitchen color...with more of a brown tone vs. Blue
How wide is the door opening by the ovens? It looks like the oven wall extends further down than the cooktop wall (if that makes sense). Are there any problems with traffic coming through and openind/closing the oven doors? »
Vicki Williams Interior Design Paint the ceiling a darker dramatic color, could even bring the color down on the walls. or add some molding 2 ft down or so. Another idea actually along with doing the ceiling would be to paint wide horizontal bands of alternate colors , 3 feet wide or so. I'd measure and divide evenly the space
Venegas and Company Thank you for your inquiry! The floors are oak, but were sourced by the builder. Your best bet is to go to your local flooring showroom and see the finishes in person. Good luck!
I will be having this white kitchen and same grey wall. Floor is beige tiles. I don't have an island. Is that mean I should get a dark wood table? is white with grey marble round table will do?
Please help! Many thanks! »
Venegas and Company Signature Custom Kitchens built these custom cabinets for us. The perimeter is Signature's "White" and the island and wet bar is Signature's "Ebony". Each has a slight sheen and no brush stroke.
Venegas and Company Yes, it is a 2x4 tile set in a subway pattern. And it does in fact have a beveled edge. We often send our clients to Tile Showcase in the Boston Design Center, but you can certainly source a similar tile locally. Good luck!

Venegas and Company The overall size of the kitchen (not including the bar to the right) is 14'-8" (176") x 16'-6" (198"). The island is 4'-2" (50") x 9'-7" (115"). Hope this helps!

In this traditional kitchen, light gray walls, nearly black cabinetry and the gray rug in the foreground provide light, medium and dark tones of gray.

You can see the cabinets from the image above in the right corner of this image; the bar area sits between the kitchen and another room, and functions as a transitional element.

There is the drinks cabinet on the right. I don't like the black, but I do like the same colour being used for the island cupboards and drinks cabinet. I also think we could use a more expensive caesar stone on the island and a cheaper granite on the rest of the counter tops. A clearer drinks cabinet picture to follow.
