Design Dilemma - there are retailers that represent vendors such as Hunter Douglas, etc. They may also sell interior plantation shutters. They will measure and order shades for you. If you are a good measurer, Smith & Noble.com could be a good resource. Just remember, this is an investment. The wrong color, material or size can be avoided by hiring a decorator and could prove to be less expensive because you are avoiding mistakes. Good luck.

I'm not Lorraine, but these shades look like simple matchstick roll-up blinds, no? If they are, they're available everywhere, I've even seen them at Big Lots!

This is Lorraine, and these certainly are NOT matchstick.
Thank you,
Lorraine

I think matchstick could be substituted for a similar look as BobbiP says. I'm sure the shades in this room were worth every penny and I'm sure designer Vale's ideas were very valuable and worth every penny as well, but you could come close to the look with matchstick, if you're decorating on a shoestring.

Matchstick blinds wouldn't come close. They would be dismal. I'm scratching my head here. You see exactly what you want here and can order them from the designer. A cheap imitation will look exactly like a cheap imitation. You might just try asking the designer what she would charge to have these window treatments made for you instead of assuming it would be too much. just saying ...

Lorraine - 1000 apologies. j222b - thank you for your support. This post almost kept me from ever commenting again, I felt so bad for my suggestion. Pangaea - I'm sure you're right.
This room is beautiful and certainly deserves to have the best materials one can afford.

Pangaea, good response. Home owners who love some of the deigns on Houzz are not aware some designers are willing to "do windows", and not a whole room.
Ceili123: you either have to settle for an inferior look or pay the worth-it-price for the designer's vision.

j222b, you're absolutely right. Most people don't realize that many -- in fact the majority of -- designers will be happy to help you with small projects. It never ceases to amaze me how hard people try to cut out the very designer who created the thing they want. Imagine if we did that with music?-- Hey, Paul McCartney, I just love that song you wrote & sang and want to hear that in my own house. Do you know anywhere I can buy that song by someone else who sounds just like you so I don't have to pay you & can save a few dollars? -- LOL!! Same principle in my opinion and same less than satisfactory results.
-- Disclaimer: this is the opinion of Pangaea and does not represent the opinion of Houzz, its employees, and so on and so forth. ;0)

I think designer Hebson has nailed it, and a quality product, too. I have HD on 3 of my windows (wide wooden blinds with tapes) and they're good quality.
